Carbon Reduction Plan

Publication date: July 2026 · Baseline year: 2025 · Reporting period: 2025

Summary

Plan at a glance

2050

Net Zero target

Committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

2025

Baseline year

Our first year of measurement, against which future progress is tracked.

2.18

tCO2e baseline

Total baseline emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3.

Ore Technologies Ltd has prepared this Carbon Reduction Plan in accordance with the required reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans (PPN 06/21 and associated guidance). It establishes our 2025 emissions baseline and sets out our commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050.

1. Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Ore Technologies Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. As a small, home-first digital consultancy, we recognise our responsibility to measure, manage and reduce our environmental impact, and we treat sustainability as a core business value, as set out in our Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility Policy. This Carbon Reduction Plan establishes our emissions baseline and sets out the measures we are taking to reduce emissions over time.

2. Baseline emissions footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases emitted before any strategic action to reduce emissions is undertaken. This is the first Carbon Reduction Plan prepared by Ore Technologies, and 2025 has been established as the baseline year against which future progress will be measured.

Baseline year: 2025

Scope 3 breakdown (tCO2e): business travel by rail 0.11; employee commuting including homeworking 0.70; waste generated in operations 0.03; upstream transport and distribution 0.02. The reported Scope 3 categories are those required under the reporting standard.

3. Current emissions reporting

As 2025 is the baseline year and the first year of measurement, current reported emissions are the same as the baseline figures above (total 2.18 tCO2e). Subsequent Carbon Reduction Plans will report current-year emissions against the 2025 baseline to demonstrate progress.

4. Emissions reduction targets

Ore Technologies commits to reducing its emissions over the coming years and to achieving Net Zero by 2050. Given our size, our most material emissions arise from the company vehicle and from homeworking energy use. Our interim commitments are to:

  • Maintain our home-first operating model and rail-first travel policy, keeping business travel and commuting emissions low as we grow;
  • Transition the company vehicle to a hybrid or fully electric vehicle by 2028, reducing Scope 1 emissions materially;
  • Track emissions on an intensity basis (tCO2e per full-time employee) so that our footprint remains controlled as headcount increases; and
  • Measure and report our emissions annually, updating this plan each year.

On this basis we expect our absolute and intensity emissions to reduce year on year, with the vehicle transition delivering the largest single reduction.

5. Carbon reduction projects

The following environmental management measures and projects are already in place and contribute to reducing our emissions:

  • A home-first working model that removes office energy use and minimises commuting;
  • A rail-first business travel policy, using public transport in preference to driving wherever practical;
  • Use of energy-efficient equipment and cloud-based infrastructure, with digital-by-default working to minimise paper and physical storage;
  • Waste minimisation, recycling and responsible disposal of electronic equipment; and
  • Environmental criteria applied within our procurement and supplier selection.

Planned measures include transitioning the company vehicle to a low-emission or electric vehicle, encouraging renewable-energy tariffs for homeworking where feasible, and engaging our supply chain on carbon reduction.

6. Declaration and sign-off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with the reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans (PPN 06/21 and associated guidance) and using the following environmental reporting standards: the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard for the reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, and the UK Government Greenhouse Gas Conversion Factors (DEFRA/DESNZ) for the relevant year. Emissions figures for the baseline year are estimated where primary data is not yet available, using the stated assumptions and recognised conversion factors, and will be refined as measurement matures.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors (or equivalent management body) of Ore Technologies Ltd.

Methodology and assumptions

Figures are estimated for a two-person, home-first business using UK Government (DEFRA/DESNZ) conversion factors. Key assumptions, to be confirmed and refined annually: company vehicle petrol, approximately 5,000 business miles per year; rail business travel approximately 2,000 passenger-miles per year; homeworking energy for 2 full-time staff. No premises are under operational control, therefore Scope 2 is nil.
